Massive truck inspections on Bulgarian roads: Ministry of Interior and Road Agency intensify control
Control over heavy goods vehicles on Bulgarian roads continues to be intensive. A joint operation by the Ministry of Interior and the Road Agency is aimed at checking the technical condition of trucks, as well as compliance with regulated rest times for drivers.
The inspections cover the main road arteries in the country. Traffic intensity statistics show that in just one hour, over 46,000 vehicles passed through the Trakia motorway, with heavy goods vehicles numbering over 2,200 units. Significant truck traffic is also observed on the Hemus and Struma motorways, which are subject to the attention of control authorities.
According to police data, the technical condition among truck drivers is a serious problem – almost every second or third driver has deficiencies. Particular attention is paid to the condition of tires, which, in combination with hot asphalt temperatures, can lead to fatal accidents.
"Our task is, when we identify such vehicles, to sanction them and remove them from traffic," said Martin Tsurinski, Deputy Director of the "Road Police". He emphasized that the goal is to prevent serious road accidents through strict application of rules regarding technical condition and documentary correctness.
Authorities urge all road users to ensure the condition of their vehicles and documents before setting off, advising greater tolerance and cautious behavior.
