European Parliament to vote tomorrow on integration paths for Ukraine, Moldova, and Serbia
The European Parliament is in the final stages of reviewing the annual reports that determine the current status of Ukraine, Moldova, and Serbia regarding their accession process to the European Union. The official vote on the three documents is scheduled for tomorrow.
Ukraine: Reforms under the pressure of war
In the draft report for Ukraine, MEPs express support for strengthening the country's democratic institutions, which is happening in parallel with the ongoing Russian aggression. The focus is placed on judicial reform and the fight against corruption. Despite the progress made, legislators emphasize that these reforms must be intensified to prepare the country for full membership.
Moldova: Ambitious goals for 2030
For Moldova, the report notes positive progress across all negotiation chapters. Despite internal challenges, the authorities in Chisinau have demonstrated serious commitment to the European program. The European Parliament calls for an acceleration of the processes, setting a goal for negotiations to be completed by the beginning of 2028, and full accession to the Union by 2030.
Serbia: Warning of stagnation
A different picture from previous years is outlined for Serbia. MEPs note that the integration process is at a dead end. Serious concern is expressed regarding the rule of law, democratic standards, and increasing political polarization. The document insists that Belgrade reach an agreement with Kosovo and synchronize its foreign policy with the EU's position.
Following the conclusion of the voting, the European Parliament's permanent rapporteurs will present official conclusions and detailed voting results through press conferences.
