The maritime phase of the international military exercise "Breeze 2026" begins in the Black Sea
The maritime phase of the national naval exercise with international participation "Breeze 2026" has begun in the Black Sea. Ships from the multinational task force departed the naval base in Burgas and headed into the open sea, the Ministry of Defense reported.
The program of the exercise, which will continue until July 19, is focused on complex tasks to ensure maritime security. These include anti-mine underwater surveys using autonomous vehicles, escorting ships through cleared channels, as well as combat operations against submarines and asymmetric threats presented by fast boats.
An important element of the maneuvers is the participation of representatives from the NATO Center for Maritime Deterrence. They are conducting joint training for ship verification and interception. Cooperation with aviation has also been strengthened – aircraft from the maritime patrol aviation of Turkey and France, as well as Bulgarian military helicopters, are participating in the maneuvers.
