Kaja Kallas: The EU supports the Georgian people, not its government
The European Union is expressing a clear position regarding the situation in Georgia. According to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security, Kaja Kallas, the goal of Brussels is not to support the current Georgian government, but to provide assistance to the people themselves.
Speaking in Brussels ahead of a meeting of EU foreign ministers, Kallas emphasized that there are currently serious difficulties in communication with the authorities in Georgia. She explained that European leaders are actively discussing mechanisms for providing effective aid that reaches citizens and preserves their faith in European values.
During the meeting in Brussels, the focus of the discussions will be not only on the conflict in Ukraine and the Middle East crisis, but also on the European Union's strategic approach to the Black Sea region. Kallas reminded that a strategy for the region has already been adopted, the implementation of which is key, with Black Sea countries playing a central role in this process.
