In Houston, Texas, a killing occurred during a check by federal officers from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The incident, in which Lorenzo Salgado Araujo died, reveals serious discrepancies between official investigations and the claims of the victim's family.

According to ICE representatives, agents attempted to arrest Araujo because he was wanted as an undocumented migrant from Mexico. Officials claim that he attempted to obstruct them, which forced the agents to shoot in self-defense. On the other hand, the deceased's son, Ronaldo Salgado, claims that his father was looking for day labor and had no legal issues with his documentation.

Context of Tension
This case is not isolated. Over the past year, several similar incidents have been recorded in the US—in Minneapolis and Oregon—where initial government versions were refuted by video evidence. Examples such as the Alex Pritt case, where video recordings showed the victim was holding a phone rather than a weapon, triggered large-scale protests and dismissals within the ICE structure.

What does this mean for society?
For the average citizen and migrant communities in the US, these events are a sign of growing distrust in institutions. When official versions from law enforcement contradict real evidence, it leads to social instability and political fractures. The FBI has already launched an investigation into the Houston incident, which will determine whether there was an abuse of authority.
