USA on the Brink of Wider Conflict with Iran: Pentagon Hides Casualties and Resource Shortages

Relations between the US and Iran are reaching a dangerous point of escalation following a series of mutual strikes that threaten regional stability. According to an investigation by the "Washington Post," the US administration is considering larger-scale military actions but is facing serious logistical and political challenges.

The situation is intensifying with new casualties among American service members. Following the Iranian strike against a military base in Jordan, which killed two American soldiers, Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the discovery of unidentified remains. An additional loss was recorded in Northern Iraq, where an American service member died in an incident involving unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian drone.

Despite plans to strengthen the military presence and increase the number of aircraft in the region, administration sources warn of a critical shortage of resources. "We do not have enough means to sustain operations safely," states an anonymous official, emphasizing that stocks of air defense and long-range munitions are running low.

Security experts express skepticism regarding the possibility of ground operations in Iran. Seth Jones from the Center for Strategic and International Studies warns that US forces are not prepared for potential long-range attacks from the Iranian side, especially in the strategic zones around the Strait of Hormuz.

Parallel to the military escalation, the Pentagon faces accusations of manipulating public opinion. According to the "New York Times," authorities have withheld information regarding dozens of wounded American troops and damage to equipment caused by Iranian attacks. The official position is that this is done for the purpose of "operational security"—to avoid providing data that would help Iran more accurately direct its missiles and drones against American bases.

The criticism, however, is that such a policy of silence is aimed more at preventing anti-war sentiment in the US than at a real military strategy.
