Freezing the contract with 'Botas' is an economic breakthrough for Bulgaria, claims Vitanov
Peter Vitanov, Chairman of the parliamentary group of 'Progressive Bulgaria', commented on the official freezing of the gas contract between 'Bulgargaz' and the Turkish company 'Botas' as a serious economic breakthrough for Bulgaria. According to him, the new deal brings significant benefits to the state, although the initial parameters have not yet been publicly announced.
According to Vitanov, the initial contract was signed in a different international environment, when there was talk of a lack of Russian gas. He pointed out that at the time there were preliminary agreements with Hungary and Serbia, which were destroyed by subsequent governing parties. Vitanov accused the political opponents of Prime Minister Rumen Radev of trying to use the contract as political bait against him, instead of focusing on the economic aspects.
After the meeting of state heads in Ankara, 'Bulgargaz' and 'Botas' signed a protocol to freeze the contract for 15 months. Within this period, the Bulgarian side will pay only for the used capacity, but with improved conditions. Vitanov expressed confidence that when the specific figures are revealed, it will become clear that the new conditions are of great benefit to the Bulgarian people and the economy.
