Accusations Against the Minister of Interior: DPS Reveals Large-Scale Real Estate Deals and Suspicions of Tax Evasion

DPS MP Hamid Hamid delivered a series of heavy accusations against Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev and his family, related to large-scale real estate operations and suspicions of financial violations.

According to the information presented by Hamid, the minister and his business partners acquired agricultural land in the Markovo and Brestovitsa areas (Plovdiv region) worth over 5 million BGN. The MP added that there are media reports alleging tax evasion and the execution of fictitious transactions.

Data from the Property Register cited by Hamid shows that individuals and companies controlled by the Demerdzhiev family own a total of 411 real estate properties. Of these, only seven are apartments, while the rest are agricultural lands and construction sites. The scale of purchases through the controlled companies exceeds 16 million BGN.

During the press conference, Hamid Hamid also shared details of a direct confrontation with the minister. He claims he received a threat from Demerdzhiev immediately before making the revelations, with the latter telling him: "It is getting very interesting. So far, we are only seeing fireworks."

Representatives of DPS stated that they have already gathered the necessary data from the Commercial Register and the Property Register, which will be officially submitted to the prosecutor's office for investigation. At this time, Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev has not provided a public comment regarding the allegations.
