Tragedy in Venezuela: Death Toll from Recent Earthquakes Reaches Over 4,300 People
The consequences of the two powerful earthquakes that shook Venezuela on June 24 have taken on the scale of a massive humanitarian catastrophe. According to official data provided by the Speaker of the Venezuelan Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, the death toll has reached 4,333 people.
The situation remains critical, as 315 of the victims have not yet been identified. The number of injured exceeds 16,700, and the scale of the destruction has left approximately 17,000 people homeless. To date, rescue teams have managed to extract 6,462 people from collapsed buildings.
In response to the crisis, the government announced that the process of distributing temporary housing for the affected families will begin next week. For the Bulgarian reader, this news is an indicator of the serious risk of social instability in the region, caused by natural disasters that call into question the capacity of state institutions for rapid response.
