Bulgaria and Germany seek cooperation in science and robotics to retain young talent
The Bulgarian government is focusing on building a modern scientific infrastructure to serve as an incentive for young specialists to remain in the country. This was one of the main topics discussed by Prime Minister Rumen Radev during a meeting at the Council of Ministers with representatives of German research institutes and publishers.
The talks, initiated by the German Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade, focused on deepening bilateral cooperation in the spheres of education, innovation, and scientific research. The primary goal is the creation of partnerships between Bulgarian and German universities and research organizations.
According to the Prime Minister, the development of a high-value-added economy is directly linked to the quality of education and the country's ability to prepare highly qualified personnel. In this context, a special emphasis was placed on technological exchange in strategic areas such as:
- Robotics;
- Artificial intelligence for industrial applications;
- Sustainable manufacturing.
Key representatives of the government and the scientific community participated in the meeting, including the Minister of Innovation and Digital Transformation Ivan Vasilev, the Deputy Ministers of Education and Internal Affairs, as well as the President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Evelina Slavcheva.
Long-term cooperation with Germany, one of Bulgaria's leading economic partners, is expected to contribute to the technological modernization of the Bulgarian economy and create real opportunities for the professional realization of scientists and young specialists in Bulgaria.
