The first feature film based on the popular series Bluey is planned for August 2027

Big Screen Debut

The first animated feature film based on the popular Australian series Bluey has been announced for release on August 4, 2027. The project will be produced by Ludo Studio in collaboration with BBC Studios, with distribution handled by Walt Disney Studios.

The film will be written and directed by the creator of the original series, Joe Brumm, with Richard Jeffrey, who worked on the first three seasons of the series, joining the directing team. The production is led by Amber Nisbett, whose experience includes projects such as "Happy Feet" and "The LEGO Movie".

Technical Changes and Team

Unlike the 2D animation of the television series, the film version will use CGI technology. Details regarding the visual style and the transition to 3D imagery have not yet been revealed.

The musical score will be composed by Jeff Bush, the composer of the original series. In the original English voice cast, Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack will return to the roles of Chilli and Bandit. The rest of the cast and the voices for the French version are yet to be announced.

Created in Australia in 2018, the Bluey series has become a global phenomenon, broadcast in over 60 countries and awarded Emmy and BAFTA honors. The story follows the daily lives of six-year-old Australian Shepherd Bluey, her sister Bingo, and their parents Bandit and Chilli.

Although a detailed synopsis of the film has not yet been provided, it is expected to adapt the family themes and adventures of the characters to the feature film format. The first cinema premiere is planned for France on August 4, 2027, after which the film will be available on the Disney+ platform.
