For many, the morning cup of coffee is not just a drink, but a life-saving sip that helps start the day, whether we are tired parents or simply looking for a moment of peace. But behind this familiar aroma lie stories that sound almost like legends.

One of the most exciting stories is related to the Geisha variety. Originally, this was a wild coffee growing in the deep forests of Ethiopia. Today, however, Geisha is a symbol of prestige, winning the largest international competitions and setting records at auctions. The secret to its value lies in its proximity to its origin – the land around the legendary Gori Gesha forest. Although the harvest of this variety is extremely small (for 2026, only about 8.8 tons are expected worldwide), the good news is that a small portion of it – about 150 kg – is already available to connoisseurs in Bulgaria.

Another topic that always sparks discussion is the famous Kopi Luwak. It is known as the most exotic, but also the most controversial coffee in the world. The production process involves the Asian palm civet, which selects only the ripest beans. After they pass through the animal's digestive tract, they undergo a specific fermentation process under the influence of enzymes, which gives the drink its unique character.

However, the quality of coffee depends not only on the process but also on the soil. For example, the country of Nicaragua is establishing itself as a leader in the production of specialty coffee. Thanks to the high altitude and rich volcanic soils in regions such as Matagalpa and Nueva Segovia, local farmers manage to create incredibly complex flavors.

These interesting facts were part of the theme of the third edition of Dabov Family Fest, organized by Yordan Dabov. The event brought some of the world's best farmers from Honduras, Rwanda, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Brazil to Bulgaria, who shared their experience and told the story of every bean's journey from the mountain slopes to the end consumer's cup.
