Fatal accident in Haskovo: 72-year-old woman killed under the wheels of a car

The early hours of today ended in tragedy in the city of Haskovo. On 'Osvobozhdenie' Boulevard, in the area of the Regional Food Safety Directorate, a fatal incident occurred in which a 72-year-old woman died.

According to information from the Ministry of Interior, the incident occurred around 05:15 AM. The victim was crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing when she was hit by a Ford Focus passenger car driven by a 69-year-old man. The vehicle was traveling towards the city of Kardzhali.

The driver of the car gave testimony to police representatives, stating that he noticed the pedestrian at the last possible moment but was unable to prevent the collision. According to preliminary information, the driver is a professional, and his testing for alcohol and drugs yielded a negative result.

Police teams worked at the scene, and investigative actions in the case continued for several hours to establish the exact cause of the tragedy.
