Strong storm and hail caused damage in Stara Zagora and Veliko Tarnovo
A strong summer storm, accompanied by intense rainfall and strong winds, caused incidents and infrastructure problems in two of the country's major cities – Stara Zagora and Veliko Tarnovo.
In Stara Zagora, the storm led to damage to the urban infrastructure. According to information from the municipality, eight fallen trees were registered, one of which blocked traffic on Gurko Blvd. at the intersection with Parchevich St. In addition to road obstacles, damage was found in the contact network of the trolleybus transport, which led to a temporary suspension of movement on some lines.
Municipal services are mobilized and are working on clearing the roads and restoring the electrical network. Services will remain on duty overnight to respond to any new reports of disasters.
In the Veliko Tarnovo region, specifically in the villages of Kozarevets and Djulyunitsa, the storm was accompanied by hail. Ice chunks the size of hazelnuts caused damage to agricultural production and private gardens. Despite the local damage to agriculture, there is no information regarding damage to buildings or flooded residential premises.
What this means for citizens: Residents of the affected areas should expect delays in urban transport in Stara Zagora and should be careful when moving near fallen trees or damaged electrical lines. In the rural areas of Veliko Tarnovo, it will be necessary to assess agricultural losses following the passage of the hail.
