Stricter control against noisy cars and scooters in Burgas: Ministry of Interior proposes new measures

Police in Burgas are taking a step towards strengthening discipline among drivers and users of electric vehicles. The Director of the Burgas Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, Chief Commissioner Nikolay Nenkov, has sent an official proposal to the Municipal Council and the city's mayor to amend the Ordinance for the Protection of Public Order.

The initiative is prompted by numerous citizen reports regarding excessive noise caused by cars and motorcycles in the urban environment. Although the police conduct daily checks for technical malfunctions, officers emphasize that stricter municipal rules are necessary to have a disciplinary effect on violators.

What do the new measures entail?

According to the proposal, explicit prohibitions should be introduced for actions that lead to excessive noise, such as prolonged engine revving or the uncontrolled activation of alarms. Any activity that creates supra-normal levels of vibration, dust, and pollution must also be restricted.

Control and seizure of vehicles

One of the key points in the proposal is the expansion of the powers of control authorities. It is envisioned that the right to issue violation reports for electric vehicles (such as scooters) should belong not only to Ministry of Interior officers but also to representatives of the municipal administration, Border Police, Fire Department, Military Police, and inspectors from "Transport – Burgas".

It is important to note that the proposal also includes the possibility of seizing individual electric vehicles as physical evidence upon establishing a violation. They will be returned to the owners only after the fulfillment of the corresponding penal decrees.
