Massive Russian Missile Strike on Ukrainian Cities: Casualties in Kyiv and Odesa and Rising Tension in Command

Russian armed forces carried out another massive attack against Ukrainian cities, which led to civilian deaths and serious destruction of critical infrastructure. The main target of the nighttime operation, involving over 40 missiles and 120 unmanned aerial vehicles, was the capital, Kyiv.

During the strikes on the outskirts of Kyiv, in the Bucha district, a key logistical hub as well as anti-ballistic defense production facilities were damaged. According to authorities, one person died in the capital, and 16 were injured. Heavy damage was inflicted on residential buildings, warehouses, and commercial facilities.

Other heavy strikes were recorded in Kharkiv and Odesa. During the shelling of a postal terminal near Kharkiv, four people died, while in Odesa, a Russian strike on an amusement park took the life of a 16-year-old boy. Dozens more casualties were recorded in Izium and other regions.

Internal Rift in the Ukrainian Command

Parallel to the military actions, political and military-command tension is intensifying in Ukraine. Street protests continue, demanding the resignation of the Commander-in-Chief of the AFU, General Oleksandr Syrskyi. The conflict has escalated to the level of public quarrels between high-ranking military officials.

Senior commanders, including Oleksiy Neizhpapa (Commander of the Naval Forces) and Oleg Apostol (Commander of the Air Assault Forces), have come out in defense of Syrskyi. They call for unity, emphasizing that questioning the authority of the command during an active war is unacceptable.

Responsive Actions by Kyiv

The Ukrainian side responded with strikes on Russian energy infrastructure. Kyiv directed attacks against a terminal of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium near Novorossiysk, as well as against three oil bases in the Stavropol Krai. In the Black Sea, three Russian tankers were hit, as part of a strategy to destabilize Russia's oil sector.
