Zelensky Appoints Rustem Umerov as Chief Negotiator for Ending the War with Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has issued a decree for new appointments in key state structures, including the Foreign Intelligence Service and the diplomatic corps. According to the Ukrainian publication "European Pravda," Rustem Umerov has been appointed as the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service.

A New Role for Rustem Umerov

In addition to his new function in intelligence, Umerov has also been entrusted with a mandate as Ukraine's chief negotiator for ending the war with Russia. The President emphasized that he will coordinate work on the drone deal, as well as combine diplomatic and defense issues in his management. Previously, Umerov held the positions of Minister of Defense and Chairman of the State Property Fund of Ukraine.

Changes in the National Security and Defense Council

As part of the personnel restructuring, the current Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klimenko, takes over the post of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.

Diplomatic Personnel and Resignations

Zelensky also announced the appointments of Vasyl Zvarych and Vasyl Bodnar as Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs. Previously, the two served as Ukraine's ambassadors to the Czech Republic and Poland.

At the same time, Ukraine's Ambassador to the USA, Olha Stefanishyna, submitted her resignation to the President. She had held the post for one year and was the Vice Prime Minister for European Integration in Denys Shmyhal's government.
