The 14-time Bulgarian champion, Ludogorets, finds itself in a critical situation in European club competitions. After the 0:2 loss to Maccabi Tel Aviv, played in Hungary, the Razgrad-based team faces the danger of breaking their long streak of participation in the main phases of continental tournaments.

Unlike previous years, when elimination from the Champions League often provided a "second chance" through the Europa League or the Conference League, the situation is now more decisive. One mistake could end their European campaign right at the very beginning.

If Ludogorets fails to regain their position against Maccabi, they will, for the third time in their history, leave European competitions immediately after their first obstacle. Historically, similar scenarios occurred in 2012 against Dinamo Zagreb and in 2015, when the Moldovan Milsami interrupted the "Eagles'" participation in the Champions League.

The second case in 2015 remains the club's worst performance on the European stage, resulting in two losses against the Moldovan team. Now, the Razgrad team has a chance to avoid a repetition of this negative scenario.
