LG Electronics gets ahead of its environmental goals: emissions and recycling have exceeded 2030 forecasts
The technology giant LG Electronics has presented its latest Sustainability Report for the 2025-2026 period, which reveals significant progress in the implementation of the company's long-term environmental strategy. According to the documents, LG has already achieved emission and recycling levels that were previously considered targets for the year 2030.
Environmental achievements and carbon footprint
The company's greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1 and Scope 2) in 2025 reached 842,000 tons of CO₂eq. This result is significantly below the target level of 878,000 tons planned for 2030. This success is due to a large-scale transformation toward renewable energy sources and the implementation of energy-efficient equipment. Additionally, the company has achieved a 22.5% reduction in carbon emissions per unit of product during its use compared to 2020, exceeding the preset goal of 20%.
Circular economy and waste management
In the field of resource management, LG reports an impressive waste recycling rate of 97.3% – a figure that exceeds the 2030 target of 95%. The company continues to implement its "Zero Waste to Landfill" (ZWTL) strategy, with LG's five manufacturing bases in its country of origin already holding the highest "Platinum" rating for this indicator. Over the past year, the company collected 640,000 tons of used electronics from 56 countries around the world.
Social responsibility and AI ethics
In addition to environmental aspects, the report emphasizes improving product accessibility through initiatives such as the LG Comfort Kit and specialized televisions for the elderly. At the same time, LG is introducing new standards for "Responsible AI," aiming to ensure transparency and ethics in the development of new technologies.
These results support LG's high position in global ESG ratings, with the company ranking in the top 1% according to S&P Global for the third consecutive year.
