The "work from anywhere" trend continues to reshape global tourism and the way people plan their holidays. According to the fourth edition of the IWG ranking, the Thai capital, Bangkok, tops the list of the best destinations for remote workers for 2026.

Bangkok managed to overtake megacities like Tokyo and Barcelona, thanks to a combination of affordable living costs, excellent transport connectivity, and developed tourism infrastructure. Tokyo takes second place, while Barcelona rounds out the top three.

Top 10 Destinations for Digital Nomads

In addition to the leading Asian and European cities, Porto, Vancouver, Budapest, Naples, Medellín, Lisbon, and Seoul are included in the list of the most suitable places for work and vacation. When choosing a destination, experts analyze key factors such as:

• Internet connection speed and stability;
• Accommodation and food costs;
• Access to flexible workspaces (coworking);
• Climate, transport, and cultural diversity.

Why are people choosing the hybrid model?

Surveys show that 51% of employees are already benefiting from remote work policies provided by their employers. For many, this is a way to avoid professional burnout and achieve a better work-life balance. More than half of those surveyed (54%) point to well-being as the main reason for extending their holiday stays while working.

Interestingly, for 38% of working travelers, reliable Wi-Fi remains the most important criterion when choosing their next destination, even surpassing accommodation quality or local cuisine.

According to Mark Dixon, founder of IWG, this trend will continue to grow with the development of cloud technologies and flexible office policies, turning "digital nomads" into a sustainable part of the global economy.
