Yotova: The decision to participate in coalitions in support of Ukraine is within the competence of the National Assembly
Bulgaria must make a categorical decision through the National Assembly on whether it will participate in international formats such as the "Coalition of the Willing" in support of Ukraine. This was stated by the country's Vice President Iliana Yotova during a conference of Bulgarian ambassadors.
According to Yotova, participation in such initiatives carries risks that could lead to the militarization of Bulgaria's foreign policy. She emphasized that the state does not have a mechanism for independent decision-making regarding presence in military or peacekeeping forces without official parliamentary approval.
The statement raises the question of the balance between international commitments and national control over decisions that directly affect the country's security and position on the international stage.
