In the world of gaming, optimization has always been key, but one Reddit user (quziwuzzi) found an unusual way to get the most out of their existing hardware. They managed to achieve an impressive 144 FPS at 4K resolution by combining two graphics cards from different classes – the powerful NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 and the more budget-friendly RTX 3050.

The secret behind this success is not in traditional parallel rendering, but in the use of the software tool Lossless Scaling, available on Steam. While the RTX 3090 handles the main heavy task – rendering the game itself, the RTX 3050 takes on the role of an "assistant" to generate additional frames through scaling technology.

According to the shared information, with only the RTX 3090, performance reached about 71 FPS at 4K. By delegating the resource-intensive frame generation tasks to the second card (RTX 3050), the gamer managed to jump to 144 FPS, which is ideal for their 42-inch LG C4 OLED TV with a 144Hz refresh rate.

Unlike specialized technologies such as NVIDIA DLSS or AMD FSR, Lossless Scaling offers wide compatibility and works with almost any game, regardless of whether it supports specific upscalers. This solution is particularly relevant in the era of high hardware prices, as it allows users to use older or weaker components to improve the visual and technical experience without massive investments.

Although the user did not specify the exact titles they tested the configuration with, the experiment proves that creativity in software settings can compensate for the lack of the most modern hardware.
