Five-time Olympic judo champion Teddy Riner will return to the tatami during the Grand Prix tournament in Lima, Peru, which will take place between August 14 and 16. The 37-year-old Frenchman shared in an interview with Radio Monte Carlo that his main goals are winning a gold medal and preparing for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.

Preparation and motivation

According to Riner, the change in his training regimen was key to his success during the last Olympic program in Paris. He stated that he will continue to follow the same approach that has brought him results.

"Lately, I have been busy with tasks related to my thoughts about life after my career, but I live for the Olympic Games. This is what excites me and motivates me to have a great final competition. The main thing is to win a gold medal and enjoy myself," the champion shared.

The future of the legend

Although he is beginning to reflect on future missions after the end of his active sporting career, Riner emphasized that his Olympic goals remain his primary driver. As he prepares for Los Angeles, he will be on the threshold of his 40s.
