Stefanos Tsitsipas Returns to the Final: The Greek Will Fight for the Title in Gstaad
Stefanos Tsitsipas demonstrated strong form by securing a spot in the final of the tournament in Gstaad, Switzerland. This is the first final for the 27-year-old Greek in the last 16 months.
In the semifinal match, Tsitsipas dealt with Alexander Shevchenko (Kazakhstan) in an extremely intense match, ending 6:4, 3:6, and 6:3 for the Greek. This marked his third consecutive triumph in three sets, highlighting his clay-court endurance.
"It was a great battle against Alexander. I think we both played an incredible match. It's a shame that in the end there has to be one winner, as we both deserved the victory," Tsitsipas shared after the match.
In Sunday's final, which features a prize pool of over 600 thousand euros, Tsitsipas will face the seventh seed Raphael Colignon. The Belgian showed immense character in his semifinal, where after a match point and trailing 2:5 in the deciding set, he managed to turn the result against Juan Manuel Cerundolo with 1:6, 7:6(5), and 7:5.
