Professional drug greenhouse busted in Bolyartsi: Father and son detained with large quantities of cocaine and hashish

Following three months of operational work by officers from the Fifth District Police Department, the police uncovered a large drug greenhouse in the gardening village of Bolyartsi, the Ministry of Interior reported.

During the conducted operation, two connected rooms on the ground floor were discovered, equipped with professional equipment for growing narcotic plants. The systems included specialized lighting, humidity and irrigation control, ventilation, insulation, and odor-neutralizing filters, as well as an electronic scale.

The seized psychoactive substances are significant: 186 cannabis plants, approximately 1.6 kg of dried marijuana, over half a kilogram of cocaine, 74 grams of synthetic drugs, and hashish. In addition to the drugs, authorities also seized 44,000 euros in cash.

The two main suspects – a father and son aged 43 and 20 – have been detained for 72 hours. They will defend themselves against charges of drug production and distribution. The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of the Plovdiv District Prosecutor's Office.
