Police checks in Sliven region: confiscated licenses and sanctions for technical malfunctions

Increased control in Sliven region

The specialized police operation 'Safe Summer' continues with intensive linear control in the Sliven region. During the holidays, officers from the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior – Sliven conducted inspections on main, secondary, and municipal roads, also using unmarked official vehicles for more effective monitoring.

Results of the inspections

A total of 150 motor vehicles were checked yesterday – 110 light vehicles and 40 trucks. As a result of the control, five vehicles were removed from traffic.

Regarding the technical condition of the vehicles, three reports were issued for dangerous technical malfunctions in trucks due to worn tires, four citations for lack of a valid annual technical inspection, and six citations for significant technical malfunctions, one of which was related to excessive noise levels.

Traffic violations and sanctions

The police applied strict measures against drivers endangering traffic safety. One driver, traveling in the emergency lane of a highway, was sanctioned with a violation report and a confiscated driver's license. Two other drivers were sanctioned for improper overtaking, and another two for dangerous behavior on the road.

Other established violations include:

  • one driver with an expired driver's license;
  • three violations for passengers not wearing seatbelts;
  • eight electronic citations for speeding.

The specialized police operation continues today as well.
