Pay Disparity Among Doctors in Veliko Tarnovo: Mental Health Center Tops the List, While Oncology Center Falls Below Average

The difference in pay for medical staff in healthcare facilities in the Veliko Tarnovo region is significant, with serious discrepancies observed between different specialties and hospitals. According to current data, the highest average remuneration in the region is reported at the Mental Health Center.

The average monthly salary at the Mental Health Center reaches 1,183 euros, which is about 10% above the national average. In second place in the ranking of best-paid doctors are the employees at MBAL "Dr. Dimitar Pavlovich" with an average of 1,148 euros, followed by the "Dr. Treiman" Lung Hospital (1,107 euros), MBAL "St. Ivan Rilski" (1,099 euros), and MOBAL "Dr. Stefan Cherkezov" (1,087 euros).

The data for nurses at the Mental Health Center is interesting, as their remuneration is about 200 euros higher than the national average. Staff nurses there receive an average of 1,208 euros, while senior nurses receive 1,125 euros.

At the other pole is the Complex Oncology Center (COC) in Veliko Tarnovo. The average remuneration there is 854 euros, which is 20% below the national level. In the specialized clinic, pay is lower for both doctors and medical staff—for example, department heads receive an average of 1,130 euros, while specialists receive 989 euros. Orderlies at the COC are at the minimum wage level—621 euros.

The total difference between the highest and lowest average pay in healthcare facilities in the region reaches nearly 330 euros, representing a difference of almost 40% in favor of the leading institutions.
