The outskirts of Sofia will receive a new way to spend time actively. The Sofia Municipality announced the start of a project to build 2.3 kilometers of a new bike lane, which will directly connect the Gorublyane district with Pancharsko Lake.

The route is not just an asphalt path, but a planned route that will connect important cultural and spiritual points in the area. Cyclists will be able to easily reach the St. Dimitar Temple in Pancharevo, the St. Archangel Michael and St. Nicholas Letni monasteries, as well as the Urvich Fortress in the village of Kokalyane.

In addition to the lane itself, the project provides for more dynamic sports elements. In the Pancharevo area, a special pump track will be built for more advanced cyclists, as well as relaxation zones with park furniture. For the safety and comfort of visitors, markings, signage, video surveillance, and even free internet access are provided.

The project is a joint initiative of the Pancharevo district, the National Historical Museum, and the local community, including the St. Dimitar Temple and the Drag Sports Club. The goal is to improve access to the natural and historical riches of the area, making it an even more attractive destination for sports and tourism.
