Foxes in the Urban Environment: Animals Spotted in Various Parts of Sofia

In various parts of Sofia in recent days, foxes have been spotted roaming through the urban environment. The animals have been documented in the courtyard of the 'Vasil Levski' National Sports Academy, in the 'Lagera' district, as well as on 'Slatinska' Street.

According to published footage, the animal in the 'Lagera' neighborhood shows curiosity toward people and does not feel fear. Another observation on 'Slatinska' Street was of a fox carrying a small kitten in its mouth.

Expert Opinion

Representatives of the organization 'Wild Animals' point out that the presence of foxes in cities is not a new phenomenon. According to Marina Georgieva from the organization, attention to these cases has increased in recent years, but their presence itself is natural.

Georgieva emphasizes that it is important for citizens not to attempt to feed the animals. "This is a disservice; we do not tolerate it because this is how they get used to people," she says, adding that foxes should not be tamed.

Lyubomila Krivosheeva, also from 'Wild Animals', states that wild animals in an urban environment are not dangerous and do not spread infections. She cites London as an example, where foxes are encountered more frequently than dogs or cats.
