Lenovo sets new standards for sustainability and ethical AI governance

Tech giant Lenovo has revealed details from its latest ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) report for the 2025/26 fiscal year, highlighting the integration of environmental sustainability and the responsible development of artificial intelligence.

One of the company's most significant achievements is the transition to clean energy – over 90% of the electricity used for its global operations is now supplied from renewable sources. This is a key step toward the manufacturer's long-term goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

In the field of the circular economy, Lenovo reports success in waste management. Since 2005, the company has contributed to the recycling and reuse of over 363 thousand tons of products. In parallel, an increasing percentage of recycled materials is being used in the production of smartphones and packaging, reducing the use of single-use plastics.

Artificial Intelligence under control

With the entry of AI into every aspect of business – from consumer devices to corporate infrastructure – Lenovo is emphasizing its ethical governance. The company is already implementing an internal policy for the use of artificial intelligence, which covers both internal processes and developed products. Lenovo is an active participant in international initiatives for technology regulation, including the European Commission's AI Pact and UNESCO's commitments to ethical AI.

Social responsibility and inclusivity

The report also shows progress in social indicators. Women now occupy 29% of technical positions in the company, which is one of the highest results in the industry. Additionally, a special inclusive design team has reviewed approximately 75% of Lenovo's solutions to ensure that products are accessible to users with different physical abilities.

According to analysts, these efforts are not only an ethical choice but also a strategic advantage. Corporate clients are increasingly placing high requirements on sustainability and governance transparency when choosing hardware and AI solution providers.
