Large-scale police operation in Sevlievo: searches, detentions, and increased road control

The town of Sevlievo is under increased police control as a result of a wide-ranging operation that began in the early hours of today. The campaign is aimed at the distribution of narcotic substances, petty crime, and the violation of public order.

The directive for the actions taken was issued by the head of the Gabrovo Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, Chief Commissioner Iliyan Ivanov. Teams from the regional directorate, the local district police station, and the Gendarmerie are participating jointly in the large-scale pursuit of criminals.

During searches of pre-determined addresses, illegal items have already been discovered and the first detentions have been made. In addition to the fight against drug trafficking, officers are also checking individuals who are wanted nationwide, as well as conducting checks in accordance with the Law on Civil Registration and Control of the Population.

Parallel to the focus on criminal groups, the police are also directing their attention to road safety. Intensive checks are being conducted on drivers to identify cases of driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other substances that lead to road accidents.

According to preliminary information, the police operation in the Sevlievo area will continue throughout the day.
