Inspections in the waters of Pomorie and Sarafovo: No leak detected from the tanker 'Kairos'
Emergency inspections were conducted in the Black Sea waters in the regions of Pomorie and Sarafovo, following reports of possible seawater pollution. The focus of the inspection was directed towards the area around the tanker 'Kairos'.
Teams from the Executive Agency 'Maritime Administration' (EAMA) took immediate action, sending a boat to inspect the vessel's hull and the adjacent waters. Initial inspections found no leak from the vessel. However, during the patrol within a 1.5 nautical mile radius, individual colored patches were observed, which were immediately treated with a dispersant authorized for such purposes.
After the storm passed and meteorological conditions stabilized, a second control inspection was carried out. The results confirmed that there is no leak and no new traces of pollution in the area.
The Maritime Administration announced that another control patrol of the entire area will be conducted on July 23 to ensure the absence of any substances that could pollute the marine environment. The situation is being monitored continuously.
