UMBAL "Medica" – Ruse has announced the completion of a comprehensive modernization of its Department of Clinical Pathology. The investment includes the implementation of modern equipment and the optimization of the diagnostic process, aiming for faster and more precise determination of medical conditions.

A key new acquisition is the automated vacuum histokinetic processor, designed for the preparation of biological samples for microscopic examination. The device allows for the processing of a larger volume of materials with high precision, which is crucial given the increasing number of biopsies.

A significant technological leap for the hospital is the purchase of a second immunohistochemical stainer. This technology is fundamental to modern oncology, as it allows doctors to identify specific proteins within cells. This helps in more accurately determining the type of tumor and is critical for selecting the correct targeted treatment.

"Modern oncology is unthinkable without immunohistochemical studies. They allow us to refine the diagnosis, determine the biological characteristics of the tumor, and provide information that is essential for choosing targeted treatment," emphasized Dr. Hristo Milev, a specialist in general and clinical pathology.

In addition to the field of oncology, the new equipment will support the diagnosis of various inflammatory and degenerative diseases, including those related to the gastrointestinal tract (such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), where histological examinations are mandatory.
