Global Business Warns of Economic Chaos if Fees are Imposed in the Strait of Hormuz
Donald Trump's plans to introduce new transit fees through the Strait of Hormuz have triggered a wave of discontent among global economic leaders and representatives of the shipping industry. According to a report by the Japanese publication Nikkei, businesses view these measures as disproportionate and potentially destabilizing to the global trading system.
The main point of conflict is the proposed 20% fee on the value of the cargo being transported. Representatives of the affected sectors describe this demand as "unacceptable" and "incredibly heavy to bear." The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most critical maritime routes, as approximately one-fifth of the global oil flow passes through it.
Experts warn that imposing such financial burdens would have a chain reaction effect on the global economy. In addition to the direct increase in transportation costs, such actions could lead to a sharp rise in energy commodity prices and serious disruptions in logistics chains, which would affect not only large corporations but also end consumers on a global scale.
