From Antiquity to Today: The Regional Archaeological Museum in Plovdiv Reveals the Secrets of Coins
The Regional Archaeological Museum – Plovdiv has announced the next event in its educational program 'Archaeology for Everyone'. The theme of the meeting will be dedicated to one of the most interesting topics in history – the development and significance of coins.
During the lecture, guide Ekaterina Dib will guide visitors through the evolution of minting – from the production of the first metal objects to modern techniques. The emphasis will be placed on how these small artifacts serve as invaluable historical documents.
According to the organizers, coins offer a unique opportunity to understand the past, as they can be used to trace important data regarding:
- names of ancient rulers;
- the borders and development of cities;
- religious beliefs and cultural characteristics;
- economic relations and significant historical events.
The event will take place on July 25th starting at 10:30 AM. Participation requires a museum entrance ticket, and it is noted that the number of seats is limited. Those wishing to attend can register in advance at the museum or via telephone (+359) 32 624 339.
