Diverging opinions in the Bezmer airbase area following meeting with government representatives

A period of uncertainty and diverging opinions has emerged in the area of the Bezmer airbase following a meeting between representatives of the central government and local mayors. The issue of the deployment of American military equipment has triggered a wave of protests and signature collection initiatives among the local population.

Although life in the villages has returned to its usual rhythm following the initial protests, tension remains. Local residents express skepticism regarding the upcoming arrival of American aircraft, emphasizing that the protest is a way to show disagreement with decisions made "from above."

However, the reactions of local administrators are strongly divergent. The mayor of Bezmer village, Rosen Rusev, stated that the meeting was constructive and that the minister provided guarantees for compliance with all security measures, in accordance with NATO and US standards.

On the other hand, the mayor of Roza village, Encho Yorgov, emphasized that the meeting did not reassure citizens, but rather brought even greater uncertainties to light. While signature collection has concluded in the immediate vicinity of the base, the organization for protest is expanding to neighboring areas.
