Deadly crash of Czech military helicopter at military base

A serious aviation accident occurred in the eastern part of the Czech Republic, resulting in the death of one military serviceman. The incident involved a UH-1Y Venom multi-role military helicopter, which crashed at the "22nd Helicopter Base" in Náměšť nad Oslavou, located approximately 180 km from Prague.

According to official data from the Czech army and rescue services, five soldiers were on board during the flight. One died at the scene, while three crew members were transported to the hospital with varying degrees of injuries – one with minor injuries and two with moderate injuries.

The UH-1Y Venom helicopter is part of the new equipment for the Czech aviation, introduced into operation in 2023. The model is multi-role and can be used for both transport and combat missions with missile armament. Prior to the incident, the aircraft was part of the modernization program for the Czech self-defense forces.
