Corruption Scandal in Chernomorets: Two NRA Employees Arrested for Bribery
Two employees of the National Revenue Agency (NRA) were detained in the resort town of Chernomorets after being accused of requesting a bribe. The incident occurred on July 18, when a minimarket owner reported the matter to the police.
According to information from the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior - Burgas, an inspection of the premises revealed multiple violations. Instead of following the standard procedure for imposing sanctions, however, the inspectors offered the shop owner a "deal." For the sum of 300 euros, the employees promised to draw up a report for only one of the identified violations, instead of all of them.
The merchant handed over the requested amount, but immediately afterward, the two NRA employees were detained by the police on the spot. The case is under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Burgas, and pre-trial proceedings for corruption charges have already begun.
