Controlling the Mosquito Fight: Regional Governor Demands Detailed Data from Municipalities in Veliko Tarnovo

The Veliko Tarnovo Regional Administration is intensifying control over public health protection measures in the region. Regional Governor Marin Bogomilov has sent an official letter to all municipalities within the province, requesting detailed accountability regarding the fight against mosquitoes.

According to the current Ordinance on the conditions and procedure for performing disinfection, disinsection, and deratization, municipal mayors are required to provide information by July 27, 2026. The request aims to detail the treatments performed – both those against larvae (larvicidal) and those against adult insects (imagocidal).

The reports must include specific data on:

• the exact location of the treatments performed;
• the treated areas in decares;
• the total number of interventions carried out.

The data must be clearly distinguished between urbanized and non-urbanized areas. Upon receiving the information, the Regional Administration will conduct a review and summary to analyze the effectiveness of preventive measures in the region.

This action is part of the regional administration's strive for transparency and strict oversight regarding the implementation of state policy by local authorities.
