Chief Commissioner Vasil Yotsov takes over leadership of the Kyustendil police

Chief Commissioner Vasil Yotsov is the new director of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Kyustendil. He has been temporarily appointed to the post by order of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivan Demerdzhiev, effective as of today.

The new leader was presented to the directorate staff by the acting Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior, Chief Commissioner Lyubomir Nikolov.

Professional Experience

Vasil Yotsov has been working in the Ministry of Interior system since 1999, holding various executive and leadership positions over the years. Prior to his appointment as director of the regional directorate, he served as the head of the "Operational-Search Activity" group at the Border Police Administration in Altmantsi under the Regional Border Police Directorate – Dragoman.

In 2021, Yotsov headed the District Police Department in Dupnitsa, and previously served as the head of the police station in his hometown, Sapareva Banya.

Change of Leadership

The former director of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior – Kyustendil, Chief Commissioner Raycho Omerski, is returning to his previous position in the "Criminal Police" sector within the directorate. During the presentation of his successor, Omerski wished him success and expressed satisfaction with the results achieved during his five months leading the regional directorate.

According to Omerski, the Kyustendil Regional Directorate currently ranks fourth in the country in terms of the detection rate of registered crimes.
