Chaos Surrounding the Rheinmetall Project: Missing Contract, Funding, and Legal Framework

The cooperation project between the Bulgarian defense manufacturer VMZ and the German company Rheinmetall is in a state of serious uncertainty. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Investment, and Industry, Alexander Pulev, has sounded the alarm regarding the lack of a fundamental legal and financial basis for the initiative.

Following a meeting with representatives of Rheinmetall's management at the Council of Ministers, the minister pointed out several critical issues. The first is the lack of an official legal structure – to date, no joint venture has been created between the two parties, and no articles of incorporation have been signed.

The second major problem is related to the lack of financial support. Despite preliminary promises, the project has not been included in the state budget, and both specific calculations and a comprehensive financial justification are missing. According to Pulev, the project suffers from a lack of analytical depth and argumentation, which calls into question its real feasibility in its current form.
