Bulgarian Football Under the Influence of 'Barcelona': Large-Scale Partnership Under Discussion
Bulgarian football could receive a serious boost through potential cooperation with one of the most successful clubs in the world – Spain's 'Barcelona'. The topic was discussed during an official meeting between the Minister of Youth and Sports Encho Keryazov and representatives of the Catalans.
The main goal of the initiative is the exchange of experience and the implementation of modern practices in the field of football training and the development of sports infrastructure in Bulgaria. A concept for a four-year program was presented to the representatives of the Spanish club, which aims not only to increase the number of children actively playing sports but also to raise the level of the national teams through innovative scouting systems.
The strategy covers several key areas:
- Talent Development: Creating a more effective system for discovering young footballers.
- Education and Training: Combining a sports career with academic education and increasing the qualification of Bulgarian coaches.
- Infrastructure: Utilizing Barcelona's expertise in the renovation and modernization of sports facilities in the country.
During the conversation, the Spanish representatives emphasized the deep historical ties between the two sides, mentioning the role of the legend Hristo Stoichkov in the history of the Catalans.
Despite the ministry's optimism, the initiative has already sparked initial discussions regarding the method of financing sports facilities and the role of the state budget in the development of the football base in Bulgaria.
