The Bulgarian national youth volleyball team (U18) achieved a historic success, winning the bronze medals at the European Championship being held in Italy. Miroslav Zhivkov's age group performed convincingly in the third-place match, defeating the hosts with a convincing score of 3:0 (25:19, 25:19, 25:23).
The leader in the bronze medal match was Nikola Gradinarov, who scored 17 points. He was supported by Pavel Genev with 13 points and Kristiyan Kosev with 8. For the Italian team, Leonardo Meoni and Nicola Masari were the top scorers, each recording 9 points.
This is the second time in history that Bulgaria has taken third place in Europe in this age category. The previous similar success was achieved in 2022, when our team won bronze after a victory over Serbia.
Bulgaria's path to the podium in this championship included a series of victories over France, the Netherlands, Romania, Belgium, and the Czech Republic in the group stage. After losses to Germany and Spain, the boys faced Poland in the semi-finals, where they were eliminated, to fight for third place.
