Arrest of Canadian intern at Belgian NATO base on espionage charges

Belgian authorities have arrested a Canadian of Chinese origin who was an intern at a NATO facility in the city of Mons, Belgium. According to an official statement from the Belgian prosecutor's office, the woman is suspected of espionage on behalf of a third party, as well as membership in a criminal organization.

The suspect was attached to the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE). The prosecutor's office is withholding details regarding the woman's identity and the specifics of the charges under the note of operational secrecy.
