Abduction of 11-year-old girl solved: Video footage of Asen Simeonov's arrest
Security camera footage has been released, capturing the moment 40-year-old Asen Simeonov was detained. He is the suspect in the case involving the abduction of 11-year-old Natalia, who had been missing for over three weeks.
Police arrested Simeonov shortly after midnight in the area of Ovcharovo village, Shumen region. According to preliminary data from law enforcement, the man was detained while attempting to break into a commercial premises. Approximately 50 meters from the site of the arrest, officers also discovered the girl. The child has been examined by medical specialists and is in good general condition.
The Regional Prosecutor's Office in Varna has already taken measures against Simeonov. Four charges will be brought against him, the most serious being "abduction of a person under 18, committed under conditions of dangerous recidivism." The man is currently being held for 72 hours, and the prosecution will request the court to impose the strictest measure – pretrial detention.
The case, which sparked enormous public interest, concluded after a large-scale operation involving not only the police but also numerous volunteers and citizens from across the country.
