6-year-old child seriously injured after dog attack in the village of Kanchevo

A six-year-old girl is in serious condition following a dog attack in the village of Kanchevo, located in the Kazanlak municipality. The incident occurred in the late afternoon, around 6:00 PM, in the yard of the animal's owner.

Medical assistance and the child's condition

The injured child was initially admitted to a hospital in Stara Zagora, but due to the extremely serious injuries, an emergency transport to a University Hospital in Plovdiv was organized. The girl has multiple lacerations on her body, including on her face.

Circumstances surrounding the incident

The animal, a Cane Corso breed, attacked the child in its owner's yard. Ivan Zhelev, the owner of the dog, told the media that the neighbors and the child entered the property, after which the dog reacted aggressively. According to him, the neighbors were informed about the presence of the animal, and this is the first incident of this kind. He emphasized that the dog is kept in the yard and is not let outside.

Procedures and responsibility

The owner of the dog called the emergency number 112. An inspection was carried out at the scene. The Ministry of Interior confirmed that pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case. The Prosecutor's Office also commented that the owner of the animal will be held responsible for what happened.
