Bulgarian folklore has once again proven that its emotional charge and technical perfection know no boundaries. The Plovdiv Folklore Ensemble 'Trakia' returned in triumph from Istanbul, where it became the absolute master of the stage during the prestigious World Folk Dance Competition.

In an intensive week, spanning from July 13 to 19, the international stage turned into a true bacchanalia of national traditions. Over 45 ensembles from 41 countries and nearly 2,000 dancers competed for prestige, but it was the energy of the Thracian dances that managed to captivate the international jury. Experts, choreographers, and ethnologists – including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dimo Enev, choreographer of 'Trakia' – evaluated the mastery of the Bulgarian performers with the highest recognition: first place.

The won gold honor is not just a trophy, but the sweat on the artists' brows. "The hard work, the countless rehearsals, and the heart that each and every one of us left on the stage were appropriately appreciated," representatives of the ensemble shared emotionally after the announcement of the results.

The competition, organized by the Federation for Turkish Folk Dances, aimed to support UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage and encourage cultural dialogue between peoples. With this success, 'Trakia' not only confirmed its place in the elite of world folklore but also sent a powerful message: Bulgarian cultural identity is alive, powerful, and capable of inspiring entire nations.
