Pleven is preparing for a cultural event that not only honors the memory of a giant but also celebrates the living power of caricature and drawing. The 'Iliya Beshkov' Art Gallery marks the 125th anniversary of the birth of its patron with three large-scale expositions that promise to reveal the multifaceted legacy of one of Bulgaria's greatest creators.

The centerpiece of the celebration is a retrospective from the gallery's collection. Around 50 drawings by Iliya Beshkov—primarily executed in gouache—will tell the stories of an era. From innocent everyday scenes to sharp satirical and political commentaries, these works bear witness to the unique style of the master, who succeeded in capturing the essence of human existence with just a few precise lines.

However, the gallery's program does not stop with Beshkov alone. Visitors will be able to experience the mastery of Tsvetan Tsekov – 'Karandash', one of the pillars of Bulgarian caricature, whose exhibition includes 31 of his works. The gallery's chamber hall will be transformed into a space for reflection with an exposition of selected works from the 50th National 'Caricature' Exhibition, organized by the Union of Bulgarian Artists.

Iliya Beshkov, born in 1901 in Dolni Dabnik, left behind not only thousands of works but also a new ethics in art. Today, the gallery in Pleven, bearing his name, is one of the most important centers for preserving his work, becoming a destination for art connoisseurs from both Bulgaria and abroad.

The official opening of the three exhibitions will take place tomorrow at 6:00 PM. The expositions will be open to the public until August 15.
