Start of the national competition "#BeActive sports event" 2026: Municipalities can apply

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has launched the application procedure for the national award "#BeActive sports event" 2026. The competition is aimed at Bulgarian municipalities and aims to support and recognize the most successful sports initiatives conducted during the European Week of Sport.

This year, the European Week of Sport will take place from September 23 to 30, 2026, under the motto "#Be active, improve your skills, win more". As the national coordinator, the Ministry plans large-scale sports events across the country to stimulate physical activity and a healthy lifestyle among children, youth, and the wider public.

Municipal administrations can submit their projects implemented in September 2026, which promote mass sports, inclusion, and sustainable development. The deadline for submitting documents through regional administrations is October 7, 2026.

The selection process will go through several stages: regional administrations will nominate up to ten proposals by October 15, after which a final evaluation will be conducted based on criteria such as social impact, green practices, and local partnerships. The winner will be announced at an official ceremony in November 2026, which will be attended by representatives of state institutions, the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria, and the diplomatic corps.
