Amancio Ortega, the founder of Inditex (owner of Zara), is significantly expanding his real estate portfolio with the acquisition of the Capital 8 office complex in Paris. The deal is valued at approximately €800 million, making it the billionaire's largest investment in Europe.

The complex is located in the prestigious 8th arrondissement of the French capital and is currently leased by international corporations such as Mitsubishi, NatWest Group, and Tikehau Capital. The acquisition was made through Pontegadea Inversiones – Ortega's investment company, which focuses on strategic real estate properties worldwide.

Context and Asset Scale
The Capital 8 deal is being defined as the largest purchase of office space in Europe since 2022. Ortega, who ranks 15th in the global list of the wealthiest people, uses dividends from Inditex to finance his acquisitions. As of 2024, the value of his real estate portfolio is estimated at nearly €19.3 billion.

Capital Diversification
While real estate remains a core pillar, Pontegadea is demonstrating an increasing inclination toward diversification into other sectors. Over the past year, the company has invested in logistics and port operations, including acquiring a stake in the British operator PD Ports and participating in a consortium for the purchase of the Australian logistics company Qube Holdings Ltd.

Currently, Ortega's wealth is estimated at around $130 billion, the majority of which comes from his stake in the fashion empire Inditex.
